Well, I'm leading a colloquium again:

Coders' Workshop

This workshop will examine the act of programming as well as activities surrounding it. The main focus will be exploring how different programmers approach the same problems. Topics will include when to use various programming languages, programming methodologies, portability, and using version control systems.

Students will be asked to write programs as well as to bring in other programs they have written and will be expected to give and receive constructive criticism about their code.

Someone is leading a colloqium for CCS Computer Science this Spring Quarter:

UNIX: History, Philosophy, Influence

Since 1970, the development of operating systems has been influenced more by UNIX and its derivatives than by any other operating system. This class covers the origins and effects of UNIX in detail, potentially exposing key factors of its relevance as useful tenets of operating system design and philosophy. In less academic words, this class teaches students all about UNIX, and discusses what we can learn from it.

Students will be asked to give presentations on various facets of the UNIX universe based on the discussion in the course.

I've filled out all the paperwork, now all I have to do now is get Murat to fill out his part and give it to Leslie.

I have now successfully upgraded Daemon from FreeBSD 4.10 to FreeBSD 5.3, rebuilt all the installed ports, and customized the kernel to my whim.

Once again, I have submitted a patch for the FreeBSD port of GDB 6: ports/71011; hopefully they will actually use this one (for mysterious reasons the one mentioned in ♨ didn't go anywhere). This time around, it almost worked right away.
